Our handwoven pieces are a replica and miniature version of “Gamusa”, a traditional piece of cloth and a hallmark of the Assamese culture.
Our handwoven pieces are cotton. The fact that they are super-absorvent, very light and quick drying makes them easy favourites!

The beautiful “Gach” (tree) design.

Our handwoven pieces are 100% cotton. As each product is individually handwoven by weavers, there may be slight colour and size variation. This adds to the beauty and uniqueness of owning a handwoven item as compared to a machine-made product. The different motifs and their spacing also determines the size of each piece. The sizes vary from 55cms-80cms in length and 40cms in width approximately. The product colours may vary slightly as they may be influenced by the device settings in which they are viewed.

Kolka: Many different cultures have used the paisley symbol and consider it to represent many objects including a cashew fruit, a mango or a sprouting date palm (date palm also being an Indian symbol of fertility). Imports from the East India Company in the first half of the 17th century made paisley and other Indian patterns popular, and the Company was unable to import enough to meet the demand, such was the popularity of this design. Kingkhap- This motif is inspired from the Ahom dynasty and signifies the royalty and magnanimity of the erstwhile kingdom. The Ahom kingdom originated in Medieval India, in the Brahmaputra Valley in Assam, India. It is well known for maintaining its sovereignty for nearly 600 years and successfully resisting Mughal expansion in Northeast India.
